WHAT THE SCHOLARS ARE SAYING - 02.10.2021
February 10, 2021
I have gone back and forth this morning on what to call this post. I settled on "What The Scholars Are Saying" instead of "It's Getting Crowded Out There." My conclusion is that it is getting crowded out there because of what the scholars are saying.
Here is an example of what the scholars are saying from a Los Angeles Times article dated 02.06.2021 – "Increasingly, scholars who study the collapse of systems ranging from human societies to ecological environments warn that the Earth will soon become uninhabitable absent drastic action on climate change and resource use. The message, write Christopher Ketcham and Jeff Gibbs: 'all human enterprise is ultimately determined by biophysical limits. We are exceptional animals, but we are not exempt from the laws of nature.'"
Suddenly, there are a lot of people who see the need to find an alternative place for humans to live. My twins in SKYWARD recognize the problem and have a plan to colonize space. It looks like they are going to have a lot of competition. I had better speed up completing SKYWARD or rather than a sci-fi novel, it will be one about ancient history.
Yesterday the United Arab Emirates' was the fifth country to probe Mars.' Their spacecraft 'Hope Probe' has entered Mars' orbit. It was one of three launched from Earth in July, arriving at Mars a few days before NASA's Perseverance rover and China's Tianewn-1 mission.
When I thought about writing crime novels, notably the FBI Special Agent Hartmann Series, I selected the FBI as my focal point. My decision was based on numerous sources indicating they were the world's premier law enforcement agency. I also wanted to be able to have my crimes involved in locations around the world. My interest was to write about white-collar and drug cartel crimes that involve international operations.
I really never thought of the makeup of the FBI's workforce. Apparently, the FBI's public portrayal as a racially diverse workplace does not correspond to reality. Despite a public commitment to racial diversity, less than 5 percent of Federal Bureau of Investigation special agents are African American. According to the agency's own statical reporting, the FBI workforce was 75% caucasian in 2009 and 74.4% white in 2019. African-American Agents comprise just 4.4% of all FBI Special Agents, compared to 13.4% of the U.S. population.
Back to working on SKYWARD, so it not in the ancient history category.
Cheers,
